Man that's some good feedback here, thank you. I agree with if it ain't broke don't fix it , so I'll leave the front one alone for now. Then there is the other train of thought that has gotten me in trouble before: if it ain't broke tear it apart and find out why.
Sounds like the governmental policy of "If it ain't broke fix it till it is."
As mention the rear is more difficult due to access. Removing a front motor mount and top motor mount allows the motor to drop forward if greater space is required.
Drain holes? some folks widen the small hole at the top so the rocker can drain easier and pool less.
All right, James Gasket set, poly handle bar bushings and new poly front engine mount on the way. Should have all parts in place around the 12th. I'll keep you all updated.
Happy New Year to you all!!
never use permatex on rubber gaskets it wont bond and will eventually leak.
if you want to use something to hold them in place. use threebond 1211 or yamabond 4 or hondabond ht there all the same stuff made by threebond
it is water, oil, gas, and heat resistant.
ive used it on shovel heads as a cylinder base gasket to lower the cylinder never leaked
I agree with the Yamabond recommendation--it is good stuff, and we've used it for many years on a variety of bikes. Reading this is making me want to do something about my weeping front rocker cover... or not.

IM, would you happen to have any pics of this? Sounds interesting.
Drilling the drain holes was supposed to help oil blow by out the vents. It was real popular a couple of years ago but you don't hear much anymore.
I did mine, but they have been replaced with the new style breather a year or so ago. It came with the gasket set.
I don't know if the drilling helped, since I was doing a top end at the same time.
But after both problem solved.

2: New sealing washers for sure as the gasket material ones go hard with age....new bolts and washers is OTT and you get plenty of OTT advice from forum members with Asperger's Syndrome and too much money... steel washers should be replaced only if they are bent or dished.
