Default Need help with upgrades

OK guys and gals, I was a good newbie and searched the threads before I posted and could not find what I was looking for. I have added Rhinehart slipons to my 98 Ultra Classic and plan on adding a high flow air filter. I am by no means a "gearhead" but I am capable with tools and a service manual. My questions are 1. is a fuel management system absolutely necessary and 2. has anyone had any experience with the Cobra Fi2000 PowerPro. I have researched it and like the idea of an "auto tuner" but I can not find any one that has had any hands on experience with this system as most every one seems to use the PCIII. I just bought the bike last year and it is my first Harley. I love this bike but I just want to get a little more out of her. Only 39000 original miles according to the dealer. Thanks in advance.

You don't have O2 bungs to install sensors for a autotune and would need to weld some in.

Is it completely needed to put on a tuner with slips on and breather with your M&M, No

Will it make the engine run slightly better, slight power increase, Yes. The basic Cobra will do what you need and more simple than a PC3 for a DIY but PC3 is better for a dyno tune

The Cobra Fi2000 PowerPro is available in a model that does not require o2 sensors which is why I was wondering if any one has used one. Most of my buddies are a little skeptical of a fuel manager that doesn't require o2 sensors.

A few members have come and gone that reported the Cobra does as advertised and honestly just guessing with it just like loading a canned map with a PC3. No way of knowing for sure unless you use a Wego system to read AFR's making changes as needed.

The largest portion of members here have already modded Evo's and found out that a prehistoric drip carb will out perform the M&M, made the switch and havn't looked back. My occupation is based on repairing EFI daily, a carb runs hands down better than the M&M.

Myself and others on here will give you advice or direction as nothing is wrong with M&M in a stock form but can get goofy when it starts to act up

What time I have hear, mostly reading 1997 bagger has said it right. Many when wanting more out of m&m bike have gone with a carb.

This was funny and a good many have said it to be true
"found out that a prehistoric drip carb will out perform the M&M, made the switch and havn't looked back. "

One of the reasons I bought the bike I did was that it had a carb.
Being an auto mechanic I will admit I dont want a carb on our vehicles, just on my bikes.

S&S does a tunable EFI replacement for MMI bikes, as an alternative to consider. Will a dyno do any good? The only bike I have used one on is my carbed Glide and the answer is emphatically yes! I have a modern exhaust with O2 sensor holes (normally blanked off), which my dyno man used while tuning.

I have the Cobra Fi2000 Power Pro on my metric cruiser. It's plug and play. Never had any issues with it whatsoever. It cycles and makes adjustments up to 80 times a sec. I spent the extra $ on it so I would never have to worry about any mapping. It should be able to handle and mods you may do in the future as well. Good luck!
