Surely you could run one off a DIY 'filter to oil cooler' sandwich? An oil change kit that is, not an enema kit.
I did a Google to see if I could come up with a picture of a good **** irrigation device. Boy, was that a mistake. It came up with pictures of **** irritation instead.
I now consider myself educated and very, very grateful.
How would it work ... you'd have to pump round cleaner/new oil at the same pressure it was coming out.
Yes, it's all a little **** and bikes run for 100,00s of miles without it but given actually costs, and how much other money is thrown away on frivolities, it's a wonder we don't use the like.
But why with all the developments are we still changing out at 3,000 miles etc? Surely it should be a lot more by now. Some modern autos are up to much higher mileages.
I still believe in a 3000 mile oil change for anything with a carburetor. When you choke or enrich(depending on what brand of carb you have)the excess gas finds its way to the oil...no matter how high tech your oil is, it cannot do it's job contaminated by gasoline. Modern fuel injection is the main reason new cars get more miles between rebuilds.
I have corresponded with S&S on my 107" engine, with a view to riding it on an extended trip in excess of it's oil service interval and they say it is fine. I would be happy to do that on a long trip, with relatively little traffic work, but resume normal intervals at all other times. While being an 'Evo' it is also a new engine and synthetic oil is recommended.
When I was single my only ride was a motorcycle. I took some long road trips. I changed the oil on the road a few times. I just had to figure it out. If I knew that I would need a change on the road I would pack a filter and buy oil on the trip. It always worked out.
