if you put a stronger spring in the check valve and the oil pressure didn't go up. then its either your pump your lifter blocks or the case. your bottom end is going to be trash soon because your not building enough pressure to open the check valve and feed the crank and cam.
with the build you listed why would you put a stock style pump on it with stronger valve springs and S&S lifters with HL2T limiters you need a HP/HV oil pump.
if I had to guess I would say its your lifter block bores are shot bleeding the oil right back into the cam chest.
Did you put a new pinion shaft bushing in and line-ream it when you rebuilt the engine? Could be oil is escaping out a worn bushing there.
Another simple thing to check is oil lines. Old rubber lines tend to shed bits of their lining which can plug up fittings, or they can get a sort of flap of lining staying in place and acting like a one-way valve stopping flow.
Hopper, everything inside is new (almost 2 years ago). Lifter filter screen is clean, not particles of any kind when I drained the oil. I did not check the hoses, good thought. But now I have stopped my process of elimination, and taken it to a very reputable shop. My initial thought was it might be in the cam cone/ cam chest area. I am waiting for him to give me a diagnosis.
