Default Fberglass for ABS saddlebags

I have Viking saddlebags for my sweet 2012 softail deluxe.
H-D bags that work for this model are mini, so I went with Viking, ABS, seemed sturdy enough.
5 years later hole in the bottom and cracks where they attach to bike, only left one.
I tried a fiberglass kit, guys, fiberglass does not adhere to ABS bags, noo way!.
I plan to try Oatey Black ABS pipe cement, read about it on another site. I will post the results.
I am not handy, but this sounds easy?? I need my saddlebags.
Lots of riders have Viking bags, I think we will be seeing more posts on this subject.
BTW, many hot night rides to Cafe 27, originally from NMB,FL.

I JB Welded up the cracks in the backs of my Heritage Classic bags then JB Welded in some Fender Washers to further support the area. They've been holding up for over two years now.

Cafe 27, always a good time BikerLizzie! I don't miss the daily heat however, I've since moved from Miami as well.

I'd suggest you try the plastic welding kit from Harbor Freight like I used, it was easy to do for the first time and after melting in some screen that comes with the kit as reinforcement, the welds seemed very strong. It's inexpensive to try!

If you are ever in a bind...just use a soldering iron...and zip ties as "welding" rod.

I had a damaged radiator with plastic tanks...and saw a youtube vid of this.

I welded the tank and it held the 16psi pressure...if I was going to bet on it..I would have lost.

Great tip Tom!

The plastic welding kit is just a heavy duty soldering iron so your tip makes good sense.

3M 8115 Panel Bond, big trucks, buses and now the Fords have had panels glued together for years, this is the stuff used for panel replacement. Use it frequently to repair cracks, install fenders on both metal and plastic, good stuff.
