Almost a roller:

Final machining of front spacers, axle required a little lathe time. Next, mount rear tire... move project to shop.

Would you tell us what brand and model of seat that you have and where you purchased it?

Harley-Davidson still lists this seat: part # 52004-25
Standard Leather Solo Spring Saddle... model specific mounting kit required. Try Surdyke.com and search the part number. (52004-25)

This seat was mounted to a metal milk crate, used as a shop seat. Have a "Deluxe" Leather Solo that I've had 40 years... couldn't use that on my Bobber, my oldest son claimed it as his inheritance.

Deluxe Leather Solo on my 1976 FLH:

I try to include bits and pieces from previous machines. The AMF fork lock I used on my 1973 FX is used on my 2013 Softail Bobber.

This is a great build thread! I love where you are going with this! What color(s) will you paint it?

Original plan was rattle-can Satin Black... will run the tank as is, for a while at least. Can't duplicate the patina of a 20+ year old "flake" paint job that's worn through to bare metal in spots. The look/style I'm going for is, old guy on an old bike...

Hey Phil,

Do you think the rear tire will fill the fender? While to the naked eye it looks like it won't I gotta believe it will as there is no tire, shocks ain't compressed and that fender is sweet.

I hate that mine has an ugly gap, all Evo Softails do.

Thanks,
Tom

To be honest, haven't given it much thought... first concern will be how it rides/performs, then appearance. Naturally, I'll post a picture as soon as the rear tire is installed, we'll find out how/if bad a gap there is then. Remember, old rider / old bike... comfort, performance, and then appearance. Looking at my 1976 FLH, I really resist change, this scoot resides on the same property where the 76 did... only my kids have moved out.

Your build is coming along good. I think the fender/tire combination will be OK when you sit on the bike.

Softail Bobber is a roller! Picture taken sitting on floor, scoot on Jiffy Stand... I'm OK with the tire/fender fit.

No longer confined indoors:

Handlebars are temporary, 26" MTB, necessary to navigate through doors and hallway.
