Default Drop in fork lowering kit question.

Has anyone installed a Burly or Progressive drop in lowering kit on a Evolution era Heritage Softail? If so, is it as easy as the videos on youtube show? Did you run into any problems? How does the bike ride after the install? Does it bottom out easily? Thanks for your help.

I've did it on a friend 83 shovelhead flh (I think) it's does lower it. But riding it seem nice I've hit pot holes on it and nothing that horrible on bottoming out.

I have rebuilt a few forks. Never used a lowering kit but, there ain't a lot to play with there. I'd expect some nasty bottoming out.

I have the Burly lowering kit on mine. Hardest part is getting the fork cap back on. I saw the burly slammer kit video and that was a 2 piece spring. Mine was a single progressive spring. I did the 2" lowering. I used new heavier fork oil and it works great. I've only bottomed out on the nasties of holes where I shouldn't have been at low speed. I do have to watch my parking spot since there is an angle change.

btw. I have drug my frame a few times also off roading with lower clearance. ;-)

After speaking to a guy who had tried both the drop in and regular lowering kit that requires disassembling the front forks, I went with the regular kit to lower 1". He didn't like the feel of the drop in kit and noticed it bottoming out more than he had hoped, so he removed it and bought the other kit and was happy with it. Example of one, but he's the only person I know who's tried both kits in the same bike. It's a little more work and time to install, but I have my front end taken apart anyway so I could paint the fork lowers and trees with black appliance epoxy.

Just for reference the kit I used I had to take the forks apart. There were more pieces in it than just the long progressive springs.

Is a different kickstand required when lowering the front end two inches?
