Rebuilding my springer and went to order more parts today, and i need a shock. Ive found one from paugcho for 180 and a v-factor for like 50. Thing that makes me nervous about the v factor is a round ball on top. Seen on the reviews it has to be ground off.
The knot on top designates it being for flsts. The fxsts shock doesn't have that knot. Also a stock fx shock has the Harley badge thingy stuck on it.
The 2 are different. The damping/rebound rate are different. I think the rebound on the fl is twice that of the fx due to the heavier 16" wheel vs the 21 on the fl. The compression is the same.
A lot of guys like the fournales. It is French made, very good, and very expensive, about 3-400
Works performance has an excellent shock built for your specifications. $209 with 10% off right now.
Used shocks off the bay not worth it. The bushing harden up go to **** and disintegrate.

Great information right here. Thanks, will reference in the future.

Thanks kevin. I typed the stock HD part number into google and the V factor shock is what comes up. for the money I may just end up using a dremel and taking the top thing off.
V factor not familiar with. They may make 1 shock and sell it as suitable for any hd springer , or 2 with the diffrent damping rates and use same Chinese castings.
For what it's worth, I bought the POS $50 shock off the bay myself. If I feel it pogoing later I will just get a works shock.
