I love my EVO. I've ridden and worked on twin cams and I love my Evo.
I have updated the brakes and suspension on the bike as I didn't love that stuff on my 96 ultra but now that I have the 4 piston hd brembo brakes and progressive suspension front and rear it's a new bike with the best engine Harley Evo made. The engineer built, not accountant built EVO.
I love my evo too, but I'm not a "biker". I don't parade around for 5 miles on Saturday to the bar, or run around in no gear, no helmet, pretending to be black beard pirating across the seas. I love all motorcycles, and as a motorcyclist I'm ready to move on. I've had a lot of vtwin cruiser style bikes and I'm ready to move on to some different stuff; Honda and Yamaha have some wonderful offerings now in the FJ-09, the new VFR800 and CBR650f. The old evos will always have a place in my heart as they are what I consider to be the last true Harleys though, and I'm sure mine won't be the last one I ever own. I plan on keeping it another year or two though.
Harley, that's what I meant. I appreciate what Harley did with the Evo. I'm the only one with an Evo that I ride with and they always ask when I'm going to go down to the dealer and sign those papers for a new one.... No thanks.

You do have a VERY nice bike... love all the black. The cam chest cover and rocker boxes go well with the solid black heads and jugs.
Thanks man I really appreciate it. It was a basket case when I bought her.
I actually plan on powder coating the rest of the engine/tranny and primary covers black. I think I will only leave the valve covers, push rod tubes and wheel spokes chrome. The fork shield and cowbells will go black as well and I'm putting lower black fork covers but leaving the fork lowers natural. Haven't decided what to do with the exhaust yet. I'm not a fan of chrome.
I consider myself a motorcycle enthusiast. I've owned all types of bikes and I put on miles when I ride. I've done almost 900 miles in the last 3 day and I have about 200 more to go once I'm done eating dinner.
Not sure I'm trying to be black beard either but I'm not rocking a helmet and I have my head and face covered from the 113 degree heat and sun out here in AZ. We all have what we feel is appropriate.

It amazed me how bad looking the natural fork lowers got after a short amount of time.
If you go ahead and powder coat them too they are easier to wash off if you want to.
Well, I'm soaking my shirt and face mask with water and finishing up the final leg of the weekend. Havasu to Phoenix. Let the sweat begin! Riding Route 66 for the weekend was a blast.
