Quick question on Cams. I am about to fit a new cam on my 97 Fat Boy. I have an EV 27 in my Bad Boy Springer and though I love it, I am looking for something a little more on that lazy low down torque vibe. Something that will sit in 3rd on LOW revs at 30 and 5th at low revs 45 for enjoying those plod along and enjoy the scenery kind of rides rather than the thrash the pants off it ones. Any suggestions. Currently running the SE ignition module and stock tuned CV carb
with a fat boy gearing 5th at 45 is just a little more than idle no cam out there can help you lug your bike that low i have the same gearing you do and if im in a slow group of riders 45-50 mph i never get out of 4th gear at around 1800 rpm if i shift into 5th it start slapping the dogs in the transition at 1200 rpm it really doesn't matter how you build your motor if you try to run that low of rpm your going to damage something.

Fair enough. Maybe I was exaggerating a little, but you get the gist of where I'm heading. Thanks
I thought you were just gonna do a bolt in cam. since your doing the heads you should really look at the woods w6. it'll get you in the 80's no problem. Talk to your porter. he should be able to set you up.
i just saw your post on what your doing to the heads to get your 9.7cr that means your going to drop the cc's of those heads from 82cc to 70cc why not just run 12.9 cc dome pistons and save the heads from being molested.

Yea saw that on the calculator. Can you run 70 cc heads with flat tops and not worry about the lift with the ev27 or the w6?

Trouble is the W6 isn't easy to get over here in the UK. The Andrews cams are off he shelf. I'll talk to the head guy.

If thats the case i would do the EV3 or the EV27 both of which would need a small bump in comp but will perform well. for me the 13 is a little too mild...
