Default Center Stand?

When I first started riding in the 80's, the Hondas etc I rode all had center stands which came in handy during maintenance and detailing.

I have been thinking about getting one for my 95 Heritage Classic.

Any experiences, both good and bad? Brand recommendations? Any other advice?

Incidentally, I am deathly afraid of regular bike jacks but for some reason center stands do not bother me.

I'm interested in this as well.

Center stands are some handy stuff.

There are 3-4 folks that I ride that have them. Only one commented on the center stand being in the way when getting the bike up on a jack. That was for a tire change I believe.

I was kinda nervous about using a bike jack in the beginning too.
The kids bought me a good and after some use it's no big deal anymore.
I can raise the bike enough to get at things easily with out being in the floor.

Probably not entirely related but my shovel had a ride-off center stand when I got it. I found that the ground clearance was so low with that stand it was causing me problems trying to turn around. I wound up taking it off and haven't missed it one minute.

For your bike I would try and find out what the center stand does to your ground clearance.

I have the front center stand, and it works great. No clearance problem.
You can see it just below the brake.

It's called a Display Stand. It works great for all kinds of things like aiming headlights, washing the bike, changing fluids, any work on the left side of the bike, etc. Kind of spendy but worth it.

Wouldn't you be better of getting a Bike Jack/Lift? That would be more versatile and would remove any clearance issues with a center stand application. That being said, I would also be worried about the "security" of a lift other than a professional mode such as the dealers use. The "home use" ones don't appear to be all that large so stability would be my concern.

If you want space the dolly I have from harbor freight is great, park the bike on it and roll it wherever you want it. I can push it right against the wall.

Also cheap and a bit of a hack job, the wooden stands the diy ones work really well. I use mine all the time. In fact over the winter I needed a jack on wheels so I swapped with someone and he left his road king on my wood block over the winter, they are very sturdy, the wider you make it the sturdier it is, but harder to raise it too. It takes me less than 30 seconds to get it and get the bike up on it.
