Default Tach Bouncing

just started doing it today , steady rpm say 2500 and its like little ticks it is like 1-200 rpm and it is 2500 ,2800 2500 2400 like that and its not fluctuation they are definite ticks
Any usual places to start looking

My tach started to bounce when the stator was failing. The technician told me this was a common indicator.

Voltage regulator would be my guess. When the diodes short out, the tach goes crazy.

Check the easy stuff first .
Look for a bad ground then go to bad wiring to the tach.
If you find either then its time to check all the old wiring for
trouble spots.

Thanks , I just changed the front motor mount last week so i had the regulator dangling for a bit , I'll start there

A little embarrassing very loose battery cable on the positive side.

Gotta remember the K.I.S.S, method
