Yes a quarter turn is a lot. You may not have to turn it that much.The trick is after you find center is holding the adjustment screw and tighten the nut.Ihad made a tool for this when I had my shop. Just be patient and when you get it adjusted correctly I believe your problem will go away. John

Boy it sure would be easy with the primary off , 11/16 lock nut 1/4 adjuster trying to adjust and lock when a 1/4 " movement is enough to throw it off -- but i think i got it, its locked down as center as i can get it so the next few days will tell

Thanks for all your help John

I didnt understand how such a small adjustment could change anything until i used my reading glasses looking at the parts manual . Am i right in seeing that the adjuster is concentric so a 1/4 turn is a lot ?

You can either bend a wrench or weld a nut on an 11/16 deep socket.
Either will make the job easier.

Just to follow up , The bike is shifting flawlessly now I would like to Thank John and everyone else for the help , right now i have nothing to complain about but don't worry I'll think of something LOL
