With the 10:1pistons and no head work the cam should be fine. Any other engine mods? Did you install a programmable ignition? If so go down to the next curve if not knock down your base timing a few degrees. Or like John said make sure your voes is working. If it is it will decrease the timing 10 degrees under low rpm loads eliminating the pinging.....
So I retarded my timing a few degrees and it seems all is well. Hopefully it stays that way when it gets really hot out also.. Thanks for the help everyone it is greatly appreciated

Doing same here.
Its an on going process to mate the mods to the carb settings , timing and exhausts.
Fine tuning is best done on a dyno but is not cheap.
Experimenting on your own can do wonders if all goes well.
It all depends on your expertise and or size of your wallet.
