Good price I think... I'd reckon anyone would sink a good deal more in a rebuilt engine. I won't soup mine up either, so if I needed one that's how I'd go...

I'm running into that same thing, but the other way around. I bought a 94 FXSTC for a steal a year and a half ago. It was re-built, top to bottom, all moving parts were replaced. EV 27 cam, SE Heads. I've only got a little under 6,000 miles and i've got lifter noise or something with the primary auto tentioner adjuster... Too much stuff! Wish I had your stock engine... I don't like all this fru fru stuff!!

I bought my Ultra last June. It had 400 miles on a fresh front to back service and newly installed crate motor. At that time the bike (chassis) had 42,500 miles on it. Now with 51k on it, I must say, I love it. I'm very impressed with the quality of the crate motor.

Just came from my shop. I'd started disconnecting various stuff to swap the mptor out for that shiny new crate job sitting in the corner. As I finished pulling the oil filter off I looked around towards the shop door. My eyes swept past a new Wix filter, a fresh 5 qt jug of 20w-50, and the blue sunny sky.

Y'know, winter, such as it is here, will be around in only 6 months or so. There surely is a lot of ridin' I could be doin' instead of spending a week of my not-so-spare time doing this swap. So....

Fresh oil, fresh filter, & we're a-goin' ridin'. Later, y'all.

Not quite; you buy a brand new motor. It's an Evo built to the 1999 specs.
You know, I like what you're doing. I've had two TC88 motors including one in a 2002 deuce I have, but I'm partial to that EVO. I bought the deuce but think I'll sell it and keep my 96 Wide Glide to ride. Somehow I just like that Wide Glide a lot better.

Just my $02.

Yep good price on the Evo and being built to the 99 specs don't think you have to worry about any oil problems
Nice just being able to swap it out too, no down time.
Doing the same thing with the Night Train, pulling the engine out of the Duece
Splitting the cases, all out for gloss black powder coat and diamond cut, finishing with
a 107 build. All along the way I keep riding the Night Train until it's time to switch em out

I looked into the reman issue for my 96 FLHTCI last year agfter a bad day on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in DC. After it cooled and I stopped the panic I have another 4-5K on it and it seems to be holding well.. Back to the point. HD of Washington told me to get a reman from HD, a dealer has to remove it and send it in and reinstall it, another 1200.00 plus for labor, gaskets, trinkets and Friday Night Tab for all I know. What i have read and was told it gets reset to HD Specs; no upgrade cams, heads, cam bearings, plus, da nada.

Like was said before. it will go faster than any posted speed limit, and that is just fine.

Does anyone know if H-D does their own reman or if they farm it out to a subcontractor? Most OEM reman stuff in the automotive business isoutsourced, and has been for years.
