I changed my oil before te winter, and just rolled her out to fire her up Saturday. The oil looks clean and at the right level but the oil light seems to be dimly lit. Not full bright like it is when you first turn the key, before you hit the ignition, but not off either. Is this possible or am I imagining things? What could cause this? I thought the light would be on or off.

Does anybody have an idea if the light can be only partially on and why that would be?

 

I'm no expert, but sounds like a bad ground or faulty or loose light or bad connection.

 

Scares me anytime that light is on.. Even when the key is just turned... (Just cuz)

 

Mine looks like the oil light is on if the bike is in neutral. The neutral light is bright and shines a little bit over onto the oil light. Mine's a 94 Softail, dash. Your's might be digital being a 98??

Mine goes off when I put it in gear...

 

Sounds like a bad connection to me,check the switch.
