Injectors, Red
I am thinking about changing my stock injectors on y 1996 Ultra Classic. From what I have read, I think the red ones may be the way to go. I have a stock engine with the EV 27 cam and the Patriot 2 into 1 exhaust. I may do the 89" S&S kit this winter and I would need them then for sure.
I started looking on line for them and haven't found any yet.

I was hoping that it would be as simple as telling the Harley shop that I wanted injectors for the MM fuel injection for a 1996 EVO, the red ones.

Part number above, Harley used the updated 2001 injector with the SE Stage 3 kit and Harley parts deptments are down to someone that just needs a job, you really lock them up when you say Evo and they need to get a book.
The MM system won't support a 89" Evo, have been there, tried that and done that with modded plenoms, Red injectors, PC3, runs on the edge of being lean in the 40-50 mph throttle roll on area, actually heated a piston resulting in a hone and re ring. A CV carb with a Yost kit will out perform the MM in all areas except extreme cold start, a healthy 80" 89" is a different creature when the MM is replaced with a carb.
You can spend $1000 to $1500 on aftermarket EFI systems to say "I have EFI" supported by $350 for a dyno tune or consider $500 for a carb conversion that is solid as a rock on a Evo. You still have to ask yourself, will the pumped up aftermarket EFI hold it's tune, will the Dyno operator put effort into being perfect if the AFR's are all over the place when time is money.
Modern EFI left the MM system with updating in the dust and aftermarket continues to make money off altering current production items. 3 items that time passed and will always be there for you is a Evo, prehistoric drip carb and your dog, was going to say wife but they need traded in on newer models sometimes.
Believe I have some extra Red injectors laying around, will check and get back with you.
