Evos were the salvation of the MoCo and were made in large quantities, although I can't find any data to confirm production output. 1990 was a watershed year, when IIRC they cleared 50k.

Are you counting sportsters?
EVO big twins are slim pickings around here.
We have a few but not near as many EVOs as there are TCs on craigslist.

So about 1,000,000 evo BT's made. They made over a million TC BT over just 3 years in the 2000's. Evos are hardly rare and I see a ton of them FS. With these numbers and the lack of real dedicated love for the TC by HD owners you will see the TC about worthless when the new HD motor comes out. Best I can tell they are due for a completely new motor if they keep to their usual schedule....but doubt they will with poor sales and incredible drop in used prices that would happen when I new motor arrived. Many of the new HD/TC owners will rush to buy the new powerplant. The new generation of HD owners are "lifestyle brand" types who's idea of customizing is picking a paint job from HD and installing a cup holder.

Well done back, so that makes around a million Evos and roughly 4 times that many TCs.

^ ^ ^ where'd you get those stats? Are those EVO production numbers? What's the VRod doing in there?

The stats are Big Twins (all types, including the last of the shovels and where Evos over-lapped with TCs), plus the other groups, including V-Rods.

BT is Big Twin, as in not sportster. They are evo in the years that were not transitional. Not sure why some years the Vrod was lumped in with the BT. But they never big sellers and don't account for much in the BT total sales. Stats found on internet....but seem correct in what I have heard over the years so I assume they are correct. Just thought in was interesting per this thread.

Good info - where'd you find that?

From what I've seen, certain Evo models are already more valuable and desirable than early 2000's Twin Cams.

Ken - we're going on the Lake Superior Circle Tour, leaving on the 17th and going clockwise around the lake. We're going to take a deviation south and stop in at Tomahawk on Sunday on the way home. It will be the first long cruise on the '86 now that I have her in tip-top shape.
