Another option could be something more custom looking like going with leather bags from Boss Bags. They are pricey but are very good.

I use one clip (front) and one bolt (rear) with a fiber locknut on each bag. Those clips suck. Oh, and a couple of fender washers. Those bags won't fly away. I also have the chrome whatchamacallit bars around my bags.

I went to a local hardware store and got those clips and machine bolts, cost only a few bucks

Bag came in, looks to be in good shape. Got a pair of lids off ebay for $150 and will be using those since I couldn't find any with the chrome railing on it. I can always add on later if I prefer the looks. My paint guy quoted me at $175 a bag so all-in-all this has turned out to be a fairly expensive lesson. Secure your bags. Those clips and latches suck.
