I wonder why they even bothered to post an amount when they all say to the bottom of the clutch hub?
I've explained that a few times around HDF! The correct level is to the bottom of the clutch - the quantity they quote is the amount you need to have available prior to changing the oil. Same comment applies for the engine oil, except it has a dip stick to confirm when the oil is at the correct level! We'd complain if H-D failed to tell us how much oil to buy when doing an oil change......

Thank you your majesty.....I shall not be confused, again.....
.....No fluid at all and it didn't smell to well in there......
HAhaha.
Sorry, not making fun, it's just that with "that smell" no electrical test necessary - the stator is fried, and of course possibilities of other things that may need attention while in there. (clutch discs, primary chain, and wash the rotor and inspect VERY closely for any magnets that may be coming off) I'd replace the whole mess with a 30 amp stator and appropriate regulator. It has a better connector thru the case than the 22 amp setup and it's the same price. Rotor is the same for either setup, if it's still ok.
It was the stator. Fried. It was a mess in there. Whoever was in there before used gasket maker or something on the primary gasket and way too much of it. Particles of it was everywhere. I separated all the clutch plates and everything necessary to get it all apart. Cleaned everything up and put it all back together. Its running great. Next on the list is all the other **** that needs to be done. Dude is super broke and somewhat homeless. I'm letting him keep his bike in my garage and gave him a part time job. I haven't regretted this yet. Hopefully I wont. Thanks everyone for your advice.
