Cool 84 FXRS original paint

just got this a couple weeks ago
original evolution first year hauls *** still leaves little spot cause of the chain
like all harleys used to do.
this bike is fast and handles like my schwinn.
anyone who doesn't love it has never ridden one.
fxrs best harley I have ever ridden to date and i just bought a brand new dyna.
they should bring them back a third time with a twin cam or vrod motor
can't think of any line of any production anything that had it's run and then was reborn for a few more runs years later. they should try that with a 66 gto. or a 69 camaro. did everyone bitch till the moco made a few more? what was the deal with that? fxr RIP 1982-1994-95 resurrected like jesus 1999-2000 WTF?
who keeps f ing this up down there? where's the 103 fxr with a cvo 110 option?
imho

Living in splendid isolation in the UK, the born-again FXRs passed us by all together. It is only recent discussion here on HDF that alerted me to them. I must say the FXR3 and 4 look better today than the earlier versions we got!

As for a final final fling, I think nothing less than an FXR/SE120R will do!

As I've probably written, ad nauseum on this site, I was a late-comer to the FXR. Hated 'em and drank the traditionalist kool-aid bitching about the triangulated frame, etc. Didn't look like a Harley! Turns out to be the best handling Harley I've ever had. I've ridden friend's Dynas and they're very good motorcycles, but the FXR is nuts! The faster you go, the lighter it seems to get. From what I understand, the main reason for the death of the FXR was the expense and labor involved in manufacturing the frame. The Dyna frame is cheaper to achieve and looks more like the traditional Duo-Glide frame. I get that. Anyway, I will probably, someday, get a newer Harley, but the '85 FXRS is going to stay. It really is a lot fun.

I never did get that whole bit "it doesn't look like a Harley with the triangulated frame" The touring bikes have the triangulated frame! To me the Harley look comes from the thundering Vtwin thats in the frame. I love my 93 Anniversary edition and can't foresee ever selling.

I guy I know has 5 Harleys ranging from a 1947 to a 2010. he thought it was a Sporster until he looked closer and spotted the differences. I suggested he do some research on the FXR's and see how great they are and he may be getting bike #6.

Over here in the UK, those new Harley frames looked as if they had been inspired by Colin Seeley, probably our most successful post-War racing frame builder. So they had huge street-cred, to those of us in the know!
