Default Rear Air Shocks

One of my rear shocks is leaking a slight bit of oil. Does that mean that it is leaking air too? Seems like my rear system is leaking a couple of pounds per week. Are there certain year model take-offs that will fit my bike? (1989 FLHTCU). Thanks

Friend of mine went to Progressive 412's on his 89 Ultra with the HD springs in them. Later he swapped out to the regular spring and said it is better. They are way cheaper than the newer 440's and work just as well. Just not quite as pretty.

Take offs are the same from 85 -91 and not sure if there is just a height difference on those after for a few years.

Griz

Time for a change I suggest. If you are happy with air shocks, simply buy a recent set of take-offs, there are often plenty on Ebay, may even get a set from the HDF Classifieds. As for other brands, there are more shocks threads in Touring that is decent! Plenty of options, although some much better than others, Do you ride solo or 2-up?

Don't know about your 89 but I put 2012 take offs on my 97 FLHTCUI. Only difference between the two is the amount of air pressure they will take. 97 (listed for 97-08) max out at 30 psi and newer (Listed 09- present) max out at 50 psi. I would tend to think that if your current shocks or 13" you would be fine using the newer shocks. Did find this tread. That is the same part number as called for on your bike.
