Added Lower Fairings
Not a fan of lowers, just personal preference. I have a set of leather "snap on" lowers/chaps that I keep in my saddle bag for cold weather. As far as I can tell they protect about the same as the hard lowers, and I can take them off when the weather warms up.
Maybe some kind of white accent on them could reduce the bulbous appearance?
Some food for thought. I find there is a lot more wind pressure on my legs with my windshield on than off.
I am not a fan of tank lifts but DK Customs claims a tank lift will address the problem you are trying to correct regarding air flow.
You can also try rotating your handlebars more forward. That will change your seating position slightly and could affect air flow. Plus it's free.

The lowers are a personal thing. Like others have said, its your bike dress it the way you like. If you are taking a poll, I would remove them. I like the way my classic looks without lowers. I ride with (3) buddies who all have Ultras with lowers and just love them. Whatever you decide, have fun! G.B.
Lowers have their places, installed them when going to South Dakota only for a speaker system that can be removed with a factory look, did the job. Ran them with the big engine and they seemed to hold more heat when at low speeds, haven't put them back on in a while.
You are not going to have everyone like them in a opinion, my Twinkee riding buddies thought they were neat and a good addition. The Shovel guys say they want a bike like mine with lowers and a tour pack when they get old in sarcasm they are in late 60's.
