By no means - you clamp each side, then cut, then drain one side, then the other. Easy operation.

No room for a quick disconnect on a Softail. And last I looked, they are like $50 - that'll buy a lot of fuel line.

I apologize, I have a twin cam and I"m in the wrong forum I just realized.

But the vice grip trick works on either.

I use a $6 liquid pump from harbor freight. The have Long hoses, one in the tank, one in the jug. Just a couple pumps and it flows on its own.

I siphon too (but I do it old school) but I've never been able to get all the fuel out of the tank (Evo or Softail) so that's why I posted my tip regarding the vice grips.

Nah you're better than me cause my one piece on my Evo Road King was the tank that introduced me to gas all over the floor when I unhooked the transfer hose! I thought sure I had all the gas out.... uhh no not even close. Well a little gas goes a long way on your garage floor I guess.

I knew there must be a better way and that's when I caught the vice grip trick from Redbeard on here, and why I pass it along when I get a chance, trying to help someone avoid the mess I created for myself before I learned it.

A little gas does go a long way when its on the floor. With the siphon pump, i can get most of the gas out, then unbolt the tank and tilt it to the back before i take the cross over line off. I'll be doing it a gain soon

A little gas on the floor just helps you clean up all the oil from the various leaks on the bike !!!
