I never heard of such complication, I turn gas off, line off at carb with a rag,stick hose in gas can and turn gas on in reserve until empty, no mess....

I just syphon both tanks dry. The little gas spilled is nothing and if planned correctly I can clean the spots where the bike has marked it's territory.

I switched it to on versus reserve... that may have been one of my issues hahahha
