Default Need some taller bars

Ok, I recently purchased a 96 heritage. Love it. I also bought an '02 heritage, great deal on both that I couldn't pass and am glad I didn't. The '02 has 16" bars and I really like them. My youngest boy will be riding the 96 a lot, and he's 6'4" so I'm thinking I want 16's for it too, he's fairly comfortable on the '02. I have several questions.
1. I know I will have to get a cable and wire kit, are they hard to install at home? I would call myself an almost shade tree mechanic, I've done clutches and some gaskets on my old EGC.
2. Does anyone know what size bars I could put on without having to change cables or wires?
3. Is it better to buy a complete set that comes with cables and wires, or buy the bars separate and then add on a cable kit?
4. Is there a no brainer go to brand?
5. Do I have to worry about being able to use the existing grips and controls, or do most bars accept the stock stuff?

Thanks for any input.

Kits will be more expensive than buying individual parts.

You can run 14" bars on 1" risers with stock cables but any change in height will require longer wires.

It's cheapest to buy everything separately.

You can use your stock stuff.

I don't recommend the 14" bars.
They just don't feel right IMO.

I used +4 cables on my 16" bars but +6 would have fit better.
