I don't miss chain adjustment and lube, just like I don't miss points.

If I was racing instead of chewing up mileage I'd go chain.

Screamin Eagle Side Car belt is the cats azz, has taken every thing a big cube engine can throw at it and sure as heck don't baby the White Bike. Chains are for chain driven wallets or pirate riders sporting chain driven wallets

I don't remember which one of my bikes it was but the FSM recommended replacing the sprocket bolts as well. That or maybe it said you could use the sprocket bolts up to x times then they had to be replaced. Anyway, I'd read up on that section just to be sure.

As long as you're replacing the belt, I'd check the swingarm bearings too. I'm sure you'll already be inspecting the clutch plates.

One of the few times I will say.....run a HD belt. They just seem to hold up better.

Saw that a member locked his rear wheel today when the rear sprocket bolts came loose. Thankfully he's ok. He'd just purchased the bike; so it's not clear who didn't follow the factory procedure for replacement/locktite on those bolts but those are not bolts to mess with as failure back there is very bad.

I'm using a S&S belt, been holding up to a fair amount of abuse for a few years now.(knock on wood)

I have a S&S 1.5" 136 tooth available, cheap with very little use, PM if interested,

went to the 1 1/8" belt when I updated the swingarm.

edit, it was run on new pulleys, dug out the box and looked at it good today, it's in great shape, $80 shipped
