I found a cut intake seal when I took it apart, so I was real careful putting the intake back on, now there is no decel popping. I rode it 50 miles Saturday, and rode it to work today, there is a big improvement in power, I am very happy with the outcome.
This was the culprit of the decel popping, good thing I have the Power Commander 5 and Power Commander auto tune, it kelp the AFR close enough that it ran good, just popped when you let off the gas.
is 91 octane good for 10 to 1? It's getting harder an harder to find 93
It really comes down to your cranking pressure, air / fuel mixture, and ignition timing. It also goes without saying your air fuel ratio is also affected by your elevation. Cranking pressure will be affected by the cam which is why two engines with same compression ratio can have vastly different cranking pressures. Head work and squish zones in a bathtub shaped combustion chamber also come into play.
Other factors for people on the cutting edge are spark plug heat range, spark plug gap, and ambient temperature.
One of these days I need to get around to checking my cranking pressure. I also am curious about putting it on the dyno, even though I am expecting small numbers.
