"people say I'm jetted too low..." Did people ride your bike? Did people put your bike on a dyno with an oxygen sensor? Or did people just say that because that's not what is in their bike?
I takes like 5 minutes to swap out a main jet. Even less if you have the little tool and don't have to use a regular screwdriver. So, if it is still rich, swap it out to 2 smaller and see what it rides like once it is fully warmed up.
Well after the new jet someone needed to put miles on it so I volunteered myself I know I know but I needed to run it. I put 150 miles on it and here's pics of new plugs. Still smells rich at idle I have great throttle response my low mid and high is spot on no hiccups or cough out of carb. Still pops on deceleration. But what baffles me is at idle it still smells rich. No more black smoke I can see anyways
This is what I was dealing with before. I did get it a little lighter then this but it was still pretty dark. I changed plugs a lot while messing with the carb. But I'm still dumb founded by the rich smell at idle.
Your rich smell at idle may be normal for anything with a carb. If your experience is almost exclusively with modern fuel injection, a properly running carbed vehicle will smell different to you.
