Default help with ss super E carb

So I just recently installed a super e carb on my 90 flhtc and it runs ruch super rich. I've read the manual and followed it to a T multiple times yet still same result. This is a stock motor

My ss air cleaner is white doesn't look like a KN
Main is a .68 my low is a .28 accelerator pump is set about 2 turns out.
Compression rear 150psi front 145psi

I've sprayed carb cleaner and wd 40 on intake to check for leaks and have none.

Here's my issues plugs have dark black rings the electrodes are grey black more then normal the exhaust fumes will burn your eyes and my exhaust tip gets black. People said they can see fire in my exhaust sometimes. Everyone keeps telling me those jets should be perfect for the bike but something is going on.i have popping on deceleration when I roll on the throttle in 3rd gear from 50mph to 60 mph. In the end the bike runs way way to rich on the low end.. need help what to do

Did you set the fuel/air mixture screw according to the instructions??
From what you are saying about the plugs (pictures would help) all you need to do is lean out the fuel air mixture screw a bit.
I'd turn it clockwise about an 8th of a turn and see how that works for you.

And then go to the next size smaller intermediate jet and see how it runs. Better? Worse? Same? You need to keep track of what you change and how it reacts. And set the accelerator pump to nothing while you are adjusting jets.

What exactly did you follow in the manual multiple times? There's a whole tuning section that is pretty good.

Ok I started with a .28 intermediate jet and went to a .265 but I'm having the same issue.

The instructions instructed me to turn idle screw out until it is not touching then 1/2 turn in. The mixture screw about 1 1/4 out from light seated I then turned accelerator screw 2 turns out from light seated rode bike around for a good 15 mins to get up to operating temperature. I turned the accelerator pump screw in until light seated adjusted idle to 1000 rpms turned the mixture screw clockwise until engine starts to stumble counting my rotations then I turned it counter clockwise until max rpm then found the half way point. Reset the idle to 1000. Turned accelerator pump 1/4 turn until crisp throttle response. Still it's blowing black smoke running super rich

Does it blow black smoke at idle? At light RPM/load? At wide open throttle and 4K RPM? Where? There are 3 circuits and while there are transitions, you have to tune them separately. Set the accelerator pump off, the idle mixture at the 1-1/4 point, then tune the intermediate and main, then fiddle with the idle mixture, then the accelerator pump. The idle mixture should be right at the 1-1/4 point when done, with only a very slight variation from there for changing conditions, like 1/8th turn or so. Idle speed you can fiddle to keep at 1K at any point in the process.

Try a smaller main next.

FYI, I'm running a 265 and a 64 main, but my version Super E is probably slightly older/different than yours. It came from the factory "set up for your bike" with a 295 and a 72. Ran "a tad" rich.

Did you check the float level in the carb? If too high its probably dumping fuel into your motor. Seems like you should be close on your jets and settings, least close enough for the bike to run pretty good. FWIW I have the same carb on a built engine and am running 72/31 jets.

Blows black smoke when you get on the throttle it's definitely bring raw fuel without a doubt. Float level is good

I'll say this again try turning your fuel/air mixture screw in 1/8th of a turn.

When I first got my S&S carb I adjusted it to the specs provided then I took it for a run and checked the plugs every 7 miles.
I had to adjust it about 4 times (new plugs or clean the old ones every time) before I got it where I wanted it.

A couple years later I had it dynoed just to see and for a carb the afr's were perfect.

Good luck.

I did adjust my mixture screw in and I get it to about 1 turn and the idle is weird and it still runs super rich

Pretty much I'm saying that my mixture screw is set as far in as I can go to have the bike still runs decent
