Sounds like you could be leaking primary / transmission fluid. Be sure to check both and keep them topped off.

Make sure you have not overfilled your transmission, I did that the first time I changed mine and it blew out the excess oil.

To some of us the Evo's are the corvette of Harleys and yea we'll pay for them at least 3 times over. I myself am guilty of that and the only way we'll be separated is when I'm dead and gone..... You don't have enough money to purchase it from me....

Take care of her and she'll take care of you......

Plenty of 'em over the years, including mine from time to time. Seen a lot more Twinkies tying up the service department these days, though.

For nearly 23 years, my Evo has taken me where I was going and brought me home again.

That is all I know. That in 52,000 miles it has been problem free with no leaks. Seen a few go 150,000 without getting in to it. Maybe the Twinkies will also. Mine has never been in the shop. I just keep the fluids changed and put on new tires every 16,000 miles and it is always good to go. Pretty reliable in my book. I always warm it up before I ride and I don't beat the crap out of it either. It does get short runs at 70 to 80 to keep it cleaned out, but other than that it is a put put. My kind of bike. Never even had the carb off. Pretty good for a 17 year old bike.

I can't believe a primary chain is worn out at 48,000 miles.
