If you end up deciding to get a Slim, wait a year or two which is when the M8 will be powering them. The Red Iron Slim does look good, but for some reason, seem like very small bikes to me, and I am not a big guy.
If I decide to get a new/newer bike it will probably be a slim...I had an 05 E glide an my 30" inseam wasn't crazy about it...the dealer had me try the new slow street glide an it fit me well but i'm happy with the evo now...there's a guy I know thinking of selling his fxr, the motor should be low mileage since he ran a s&s 110 in it an is swapping the stock motor back in if he sells.
Prot, I hear you on the M8 engine. It sounds pretty good. Plus, a few years will let them get any 'bugs' out...
0maha, that was my thought, as well. For $7k it needs to be pristine. And it's not like I've lived the last 20 years wanting an FXR. Just a passing fancy. In terms of monetary value, the frame's worth about $2k, the Delkron cases another $1k (if the motor's any good that's gravy), the rest of the bike's worth $1k if you're generous. Then again, if it had been pristine and cared for with obvious dedication and love...$7K would have been a fine deal.
langwilliams, just be sure the original motor is solid if you go that FXR route. Why'd he got with the S&S?
