Now I'm considering taking the engine out and having some power upgrades done. I noticed the base gasket under the head is leaking slightly so while it's apart I figured no time better then now to have some upgrades done.
Whats some opinions on what I should do without getting to pricey?
Under the head is the head gasket, the base gasket is under the cylinder"jug"....as far as spending your money, I'll leave that to the pros here with the power upgrades.... bad time to pull the engine though, almost time to ride !!!!

You will first need to decide how much power you want and where you want it. Then you can pick a cam that will give you that and build the rest of the motor around that... A woods W6 is a great cam...... Mid 80's hp and tq..

yes you are correct I said that wrong. You are right to about taking out the engine! Just while it's apart I'm thinking at least a cam...Dammit I don't know, I could always pull it early next winter.

i really don't see it being a problem. It is a 3/8" bolt and the spacer is only 1-1/4" long. It's pretty solid. If I end up having a problem I can always change it. I really don't think I'll have any issue.
And thanks for the compliments, sounds like you had an awesome project too!
Did yes...now I have a 10 year old bike with a new heart...changed the swingarm bushings and bearings, belt, clutch....now I will open it up to put a baker compensator I bought for my Christmas present....
Frame is channeled out to fit the wires down inside to clear the new tank. Tank seems to fit well now but I may have to move it back. Can't say for sure until I get the dash for the tank, it may interfere with the inner fairing. So now onto the rear frame cutting. On a roll this morning and gotta keep it rolling!
