Three full turns with a 24 tpi pushrods puts you at .124" of preload on the lifter which should do it.. You can safely go 3 more flats. Which will put you at .145" preload. If that doesn't do it than you have another problem. I have seen where some after market pushrods Do not fit in the rocker all that well. The diameter of the ball on the end of the rocker is a little to small causing a poor fit and noise. My Revtech pushrods did that... Went to S&S standard adjustables and problem gone...

Hi guys,
Stupid question, but what happens when your pushrods are to short?
Did mine a while ago, counted the flats and did a fine job.
I take it when they are too long, you do damage to the valvetrain.
If they are to short, would they just 'bounce' up and down and make clattering noise too?

the less turns or flats from zero lash, the less spring pressure from the spring in the lifters, more noise and slop. Especially if the oil is bleeding out to quickly from lifter then there will not be enough tension on the rod.
