Softails aren't sport bikes.
If I remember right a softail has a 24° lean angle and a bagger has a 37° lean angle.
FXR's and sportsters will have even more.

I came to harleys off a VTX 1300 and that thing has even less of a lean angle than the softails so I'm good.

You may end up deciding that you need more lean angle for your riding and to be honest you will have to get a different style of bike for that.

So you saying a Glide can be leaned over more than a Softail?
Not arguing, just asking?

Yes, that is my understanding.

According to the Harley website softail lean angle 24.2 deg. right, 25.9 deg. left. Electra Glide Ultra Classic 31.9 deg. right and 31.8 deg. left.

There is no education as valuable as time in the saddle.

Probably true, but the value of time in the saddle is magnified by knowledge.

But everybody learns differently. I spoke to a guy who used to race sportbikes. He did not have a clue what counter-steering was but obviously he knows how to do it.

I replaced the shocks Progressive front and rear. I have put about 250 miles on the new shocks. Pushed it harder than I ever have before and I have not scraped the boards once. I think my old shocks were just old and tired and did not hold up to cornering forces.

Glad to hear it worked out. The springs should be fully broken in around 500 miles. I think the front end is much more noticeable when improved, especially on uneven pavement. Ride safe.

Thanks, that is good to know. I was a bit concerned when I first got them. They were a bit firmer than I expected. They have already softened some. I little more softening would be okay, but not much. I like them how they are.

I guess I could add some pre-load if they get too soft.

It is also interesting, that with the old shocks, every board scrape was on a right turn. I scraped the boards for the first time yesterday and it was on a left turn. It was a bit sharper than I expected and it was a very gentle scrape.

Very happy with the handling. But I may need to throttle it back a little given my limited experience. Even if it feels like it handles well, I have to respect the tonnage.
