Well, at least it is an intelligent response and only a one year old thread. Some are ten years!

I have about 3,000 miles on my 422s and am wondering if they need some adjustments. When I first got them, I found them very firm, but they broke in after 100 miles or so. Now I am feeling like they are a bit soft. I am 170 lbs, ride one up and carry little gear so I am not putting much load on them. But I am finding myself scraping boards and bottoming out more often. It is possible that is due to gaining experience and confidence and perhaps am riding in a more spirited style.

I am wondering if I should make some adjustments now that they are broken-in.

Block up the kick stand to straighten the bike up and check the swingarm to the frame above and below the pivots. They should be pretty equal (parallel). If they are your shocks are adjusted properly without a load. Or you can shorten the shock's a little to pickup the ride height to adjust for a loaded shock..

As for scraping, I'm sure you confidence is getting better... Very common on Softail's with running boards..

How close to the frame are you when you scrape the boards?

All the way from the outer edge of the board to the frame.
I know it isn't a precise answer but the reason for that is your board tilts up the harder you scrape it so the length gets shorter the farther over you go.
You will hit the primary and the pipes before you hit the frame (on a flat road) for what that's worth.
