Saying hello
welcome...as far as a windshield without an inner....you could try getting some small bolts with nuts an washers...if it needs more support maybe get a half inch wide strip of aluminum stock from Lowes an cut it to length an drill the three holes in it an use it as a backing plate an get some small bolts.

Thanks guys. It's running really well. I keep looking for 6th gear on the freeway but I'll get used to it. And no I don't have an inner fairing. There's a clunk in the front end somewhere. I'm going to check the steering head bearing and forks next weekend. My 3 year old is keeping me busy this weekend.
The OEM 'anti-dive', worked great on my 93 for about a year. After that, it wouldn't hold air. Next upgrade for me is a set of Progressive springs and I'll ditch the whole set up.
I noticed the clothespin too LOL....those brackets would look a little better if you gave them a quick coat of paint. I have good luck with the spray can black enamel from Lowes...cheap an tough.
Regarding adding a windshield, do consider that the force of air resistance at speed is going to be considerable. I haven't run any calculations, but off the top of my head I'd think it could easily reach over 100 lbs of force, maybe much more.
You've already got some rather innovative back-yard engineering going on there, and by missing inner fairing you are also missing out on structural support.
I'd proceed with caution.

I wonder how much the OEM Harley clothespin is? Probably $25 at the dealerships....
