I am really interested to see if you think your new rear shocks are worth the price. I am planning on doing a chrome front end on my 05 with monotubes and was thinking about also changing out the rear shocks

I will let you know what my opinion is. I don't think they could be any worse than the stock suspension that was on it. I was hoping to have it all back together this weekend but realized I ordered the wrong turn signals and needed a new speedometer cable. I should have the right parts today and will hopefully have time to get the turn signals routed so i can finally get out for a ride.

So last night I had some time to work on the bike and have FINALLY gotten around to installing tins. I went to install the rear fender and seem to be having some conflict with the front of the fender and the ignition module. I transferred the small mud flap from my old fender to the new fender. I was about to just notch the fender out to fit but decided to take a break before I cut into it.

All the holes line up with the struts off the bike. When I get the strut attached to the frame I can get the rear holes to line up and bolts through the frame horns & fender. But the front holes appear to be about 1/4" or so off because the fender won't pivot all the way down.

Am I missing something like a small trick to get this back on or is the fender just off?

Thanks for any insight.

after someone hit my bike while it was parked in my driveway I bought an 03 fender with struts that wouldn't bolt on when I used the struts that came with the fender. the org. struts on my 94 lined up with the fender so new fender old struts, Harley has been making small changes or updates all the time makin it harder to switch out parts from year to year and now model to model. sometimes you just have to customize.

Ended up getting everything to fit last night. The fender that I bought had an ever so slight bend to it. It is still a tight fit by the ignition module, but all is good. Goal is to finish things up tonight and ride tomorrow.

One thing I had to do when putting the fender on was to put the mounting bolts through from the tire side. I did this more for piece of mind than anything since I lowered the rear. The head of the bolt has more clearance than the nut. I had a couple acorn nuts I used to keep it looking decent. Will hopefully be able to post some finished pictures tonight once all things are wrapped up.

Ended up messing up one of the seals trying to reinstall the pistons in the brake caliper so didn't get a chance to ride it yet. Somewhat disappointing but was a fairly wet weekend.

Put new seals in the caliper on Friday and had to run a new fuel line due to the new peacock being in a different location. Wish I would have noticed that before I bought a new peacock. For the time being I just spun it around 180 degrees. Will need to order the right one with my next parts order.

My my first impression on the shake down ride was the suspension is night and day from before. The throttle is a little loose side to side and I need to adjust the throttle cable as there is a good 1/4" further play than needed.

All in all I am happy with the progress so far.
