I was advised to post on this forum, didn't think of my bike as an EVO classic anyways... I recently purchased a 1985 FLTC without the fairing and am looking for a road king style windshield but can't seem to find anyone selling a windshield and more importantly the mounting hardware. I have seen pictures and videos of the same bike with what I want...anyways, the question...I have seek late 80 FLHS windshields and mounts and the front end on my bike looks the same (for all I know the front end may not be original...so is there a difference between the 1985 and FLHS front ends such as the 87 or 88?...if I purchased one would it bolt right up?
mine bolt to the top of the down tube (ORG>) I bought a windshield for a springer that was way to narrow so I fabed brackets with spacers. if you like the way it looks and your handy do it yourself, if your not handy someone will trade cash for custom work just don't ask the price.
Well, we need pics of what he has on there now, but yeah, a "shovelhead" type faring and windshield is very close to what the FLHT came with in 84 and 85. Tups has one on his FLHT.
We really need to see photos of your headlight, to confirm what you have. It is possible that an FLHS windshield will fit, if you have the instrument binnacle above with headlight and instruments mounted in it. As Dr H says I have a shovel batwing on my 1990 FLHS, but the mountings for it are hand made.
Sorry got side tracked...hope I added pics correctly...have been thinking, maybe better to swap out to a road king type nacelle...would a specific year work?

You'd be better off swapping the entire front end. I'd really like to see what your instrumentation looks like. Because speedometer RK is on the tank, which would mean a different tanks, and a trip to wiring college.
I had the same problem , no body makes the windshield and brackets , mine a '80 FLT
I ended up buying a used windshield cutting it up and making brackets ( 1/2 assed ) then went to a nephew and had good brackets made and mounted them on a new windshield and used the old shield as a template
I looked for over 1yr and never found anything close that I would not have to cut up anyway so I made my own , the cowl around the headlamp is big and black so I painted the brackets black
