I have been jammed I did not see this, original Harley evo springs are a good piece they will last over a 100,000 miles with a 500 lift cam - while i prefer B hive from ( goodson products ) the stock flat spring with its stock parts works real well w/ a EV 27
you don't have a rimac or seat micrometers so guessing pressures is just that a guess but my guess those retainers have 10 degree keys not the 7 the stock kit have - pressures with 10 degree start at 175 pounds on the seat and 325 plus open pressures good that you taking them out

That's basically what they are John, too much for cam and lifter I'm running,my Indy screwed me up installing those. Good thing I did some reading on this stuff. Those springs are for 0.550"lift and up.
The rope you see in the pic is piled on the piston, raise the piston up to compress the rope against the valves so they Don't fall down into the combustion chamber. Once the springs are back together, reverse the rear wheel to lower the piston, remove rope then repeat for other cylinder, compression stroke.

I've used that method many times.... Always afraid that I would lose air and drop a valve. Don't have to worry about that with Rope.......
The keepers came in at 10:45am ,all went well and was running by five...(a couple of BLT sandwich/beer) in the middle. It sounds quiet as can be !!! But it's raining and can't take off,but it's great I can tell.
Hopefully someone else has also learned something new from my ignorance, don't assume all Indies will do the right thing,do some research yourself for your own peace of mind to double check what your end result will be after your project is completed. I'm sure this would NOT have happened if I sent my heads off to Hillside.
As long as my evo rebuild thread was,I was still not stopped and notified of the mistake my Indy was making by mis-matching valve springs to the cam and lifter I had bought. NO I'm not blaming anyone here....you can't offer knowledge that you don't have,John, thanks for opening my eyes when discussing noisy valve trains.
I hope this thread has helped someone out with their potential build.
I have a set of high lift valve spring set for sale if anyone is building a beast with a cam 0.550" or more ,175# closed, basically.new.
Hey Kevin, glad you got that monkey off your back... Bet its nice to hear the pipes and not the valve train... Today is going to be real nice here so out we go... Enjoy your ride and be safe brother......
Like you, I ws on a long trail but now am totally satisfied with what I have..... Sometimes it just take a while and the right combination..... Ride On man......
After finally getting some miles on her Saturday and Sunday I'm am truly happy with the performance, sound of the engine, feels different also. I think there was some excessive vibration that disappeared,no ticking at red lights. Hit 90 on the highway last night with just a quick twist and there was a lot left.....still thinking on installing a tac, curious where she's at doing 90 mph in forth gear, but 70 is my norm if I need to be on the highway.
Happy Memorial day...
Silence is golden........ 90 in 4th, probably 4500-4700. Tach would be nice.. Always a good addition.... Happy Memorial Day.......
Why is there no emoji of an "AMERICAN FLAG"
