Default Speedometer Issues

98 Wide Glide Speedometer stopped working the other day, still lights up and needle sweeps when ignition is turned on then lays on zero. Odometer display works but doesn't move and turn signals don't self cancel. Thought it was the speed sensor I installed a new one I had but it still acts same, I had a new speedometer on the shelf installed and still the same. Cleaned grounds under seat, I checked continuity on the sensor wires from speedometer to new sensor plug but I only have 10.5volts on sensor power wire and have 12.5 volts at speedometer . Thinking it is a wire in the sensor harness under the tank that is pinched or broken strands.

At the 3 wire connector from the speedo head with the ignition on do you have 12 vdc on the red wire going out? If you have 12 vdc going in to the speedo the you should have 12 vdc going out of the speedo. If not, sounds like the wire has chaffed somewhere between the speedo head and connector..... Physically tracing the red wire is more than likely required... try rerouting maybe it'll help...
