My guess is the connections at the plug are past their prime and the cause of your issues. As Dr Hess mentioned, I am also curious of your testing results.

The copper wire will get darker with age. Burnt or burnt smell is another good indicator besides the Ohm tests. YD

Like stated by others, it's hard to tell from the pictures if it's given up the ghost. Only a test will tell you. But at this point who cares right? 91" change it, it's already out, the hard messy part is already done.

Anyway, if it's torn down this far, put the 32 amp kit in it and call it good.

Don't remember all the numbers but it did show new battery testing good and no voltage increase between idle and 2500 rpm.

The plug in the case was in bad condition.

Great thank you. Couldn't seem to find the right kit on their site.

Sounds like a good reason to replace it to me.

You can either get a stock replacement stator or if you go cycle electric you will need the whole system.

Last time I spoke to cycle electric they told me the best system for a softail is their 3 phase 27 amp system.
It has something to do with the battery being surrounded by the hot oil in the oil tank.

I have that same softail system. Been going strong for more than 10 years. Won't ever run another charging system. Cycle Electric all the way baby.
