Just so I understand this, The Ultima 6 uses a shift drum that is used in the newer 2000 up OEM 5 speeds? So you ordered a shift pawl for the newer 5 speeds? And that is the one that will, with mods to the case allow it to throw far enough to be able to downshift?

There are three sizes of baker anti overshift ratcheting pawls available. The one for an evo five speed is the same one that the ultima would require due to the length of the pawl shaft bushing in the case

The twincam ones are longer and require a different shaft bushing but the twincam uses a roller detent drum whereas the evo does not

If I am not mistaken the roller detent drum has bigger shifting pins that the pawl selects either pushing or pulling. With the baker pawl it has the anti overshift tab on it requiring partial removal to get the full function of the pawl to shift gears like what bakers install note says and I have heard a little grinding on the ultima pillow block for clearance

But like I said I haven't done it yet So we shall see in time. I am hoping it does

Washed it from riding in the rain and began tear down. I had to stop because I need to go pick up my new gun and get a haircut

When my daughter takes a nap later I'll try and finish getting the trans out

Do you know if that spring is the same as the five speed pawl spring? I figure even if the ale pawl doesn't work I want to have a back up plan
