Much stuff that way back was made in Japan is now made in other Far East countries. Current Harleys come on Chinese wheels, for example! I haven't heard of any failures yet.....
Then you haven't been paying attention...
Wheel bearing failures is a common problem on the new bikes.
As for Far East countries making acceptable stuff I bought 2 aftermarket ignition switches (both made in the far east) and both of them went bad in about 6 months.
I will use far east stuff only if that is the only source.
Taiwanese parts are only as good as the vendors contract with them. Let's give credit where credit is due. The motor co is really been cutting quality.
Yeah its a $60.00 tach from J&P Cycles, I was not expecting much, I just need something to stick in the hole and my OCD requires that it at least somewhat work, I have been riding all my life(I'm 47 next week) and only had a handful of bikes with a Tach so it's not like it's needed lol

I completely understand and am the same way myself.
As I said before the far east products are a last resort for me but I will use them if nothing else is available.

What is a very rare problem for EVOs is a common problem for TC's.
I can't tell you the number of people who have had bearings go out with less than 5k on them.
Oh and for other problems with Chinese wheels the way I understand it the chrome starts flaking off really easily.
