I'm not staring at the mechanical numbers on your speedo but does the regular odometer even measure 1/10's of a mile? I know the trip meter does read tenths of a mile.

If not, there's your answer. Try this, go a mile, see what happens to the speedo.

On my 1994 FLHTP the odometer and the trip meter both show 1/10's of a mile. I think (and I could be mistaken) that when the speedometers changed from mechanical to electronic, the 1/10 of a mile digit was eliminated. AFAIK the mechanical speedometers could register up to 99,999 & 9/10's miles where as the electronic speedometer can register 999,999 miles.

So far my 1994 speedometer is still working @ 75,364 miles.

I took the Speedo partially apart and cleaned out the grease and gunk under the "bell". I wasn't able to fully get it apart. That "bell" shaped housing looks to be like transfers and reduces mechanical motion (rotational). After cleaning it all out, and re-lubricating, I found that it had just been stuck...which is not surprising as it had sat in a carport for at least 5 years (possibly 10).

After unsticking it and and lubing it up, it's working now. I just have to make sure I got the needle back in the right spot (I'll verify it with GPS and adjust it as necessary).
