i have the Harley choke cable and the Mikuni spring and plunger. I'm going to run a tank with the choke cable unbent. Except for the 90 of course. See what happens.
so I was reading reviews on the Mikuni Choke cable vs the HD one. Lot of people saying just buy the Mikuni since it's a Mikuni carb and that it solved their issue with MPG. So I ordered one. It will be here tomorrow. I'll report back.

Ive never had an issue with the Harley cable on the Mikuni carb. Reason I dont like the Mikuni cable is theres no way to set it partway on. Its either fully on or fully off. I use the partway setting to warm up my motor after starting.
soooo. If you've never had an issues with HD cable...how is yours routed? Do you have the bends I described? Does your cable have to go around the intake manifold then bend towards the choke mount?

That is false, I start mine full choke,go right to first click with cable for about five seconds, push choke all the way in and lock throttle at around 1200 rpm to warm up. That's all it needs unless there is something out of tune with the motor.
My mikuni cable turns 90 from carb then straight to the horn bracket that I showed you in the pics,no other bends,it's short like the cable in the book pic I showed you.
so I see how yours is mounted. I'm sure you understand I'm talking about in order to mount to factory horn bracket. Anywho. I took carb off and noticed that the outer cable (not sure what to call it) moves very freely in and out of the rubber elbow. I did some mock bends on my bench and when it has bends like when it's installed that outer cable slides out of the elbow "taking up slack" so I seated it in there and epoxied it and put a zip tie on it. Reinstalled the carb in bike and now I have a whole 1/4 inch of free play in cable. From **** to nut. If I have the tension nut loose it will actually push the **** out from nut. I have to tighten the nut to get cable to stay all the way in( which is how the nut is normally to hold **** out also). What ya think
The only way it could be a jetting or accelerator pump issue is if the 17.5 is laying in the bottom of the bowl, he is putting 160 hp of fuel through a 68 hp engine lol. If the plunger is fine then you and this gentleman should hook up and please report what you find wrong. Most of the Evo members have areas where they excel and areas they don't but live by the code of conduct of always helping a fellow biker in the Evo section since I can remember, don't see it changing because of someones opinion.
