Is the positive post the battery terminal? Is this wire in addition to the factory connection?
You have to take the factory wire out of the connector block that attaches to the relay and tape it up.
Either that or cut a tail on the factory wire that goes to pin 30 (tape off the end that goes to the wiring harness) and splice the wire with the relay to the tail that you cut that goes into the connector block.
As for whether to connect the other end to the positive post on the battery or the main breaker I put it on the positive post because it is easier to get to.
Installed the #12 wire to the #30 pin on the relay and we have cranking power!! Worked Great!!
Tried to start but the the starter pinion would push out farther than the starter gear. After looking and looking the holy grail came upon me. I looked at the jackshaft and low and behold the idiot that tried to replace the starter and couldnt get it running had put the starter pinion on backwards!!! New locking washer and pushed the starter button.......She cranks hard and does what she is suppose to do!!! Moral of this is look for the easy stuff first. Could a single wire and an installed backwards starter pinion of fixed everything a month ago? Probably so... She has a new starter clutch, new battery, new ignition switch, every ground and connector cleaned. I think I have placed my hand on everything. What a way to welcome a new bike to the family.
the only problem is she isn't firing and running... Maybe the old gas. She has been sitting for about three months. She has a new carb rebuild and would run when push started. Gonna try new gas!!
