Could be, but some of us just write from experience. I like S&S carbs so much I bought one with an engine attached.....

I've also used an Edelbrock and Holley twin-choke in the past, but they were too much trouble.

Mikuni HSR on my `87 since almost twenty years, never had to tear into it so far.
I absolutely love the crisp throttle reponse of flat slide carbs. Makes your wrist happy...
Everyone who says they don`t run right on a street bike has NEVER had one, or it had NO adjustment.
Mine came pre-adjusted for the application, worked out of the box with very little final adjustment.
I get good mileage too. The bike is quick off the lights and pulls straight through.

Before the Mik i had a Lectron on the same bike, wonderful performance BUT the Lectron was a bitch as far as idle adjustment goes, it always lost adjustment as it has no real idle system.
FBG sold it a while as a "street kit", but that did not work because you would have to adjust the carb every time before you ride, like a race carb, because that`s what it is.
Also i experienced the slide hung up, as it has no rollers like the Mikuni has.
Bad thing if your bike has no kill switch on the bars (mine hasn`t).

The Mikuni does about the same thing performance wise but is still good for daily use.
Nothing like a flat slide carb. I had tried out the others designs before that, but will never get back to anything else since i have the Mikuni.

I've had a bike (Kawi) that had dual CV carbs and when something went wrong, it went way wrong. I ended up spending a stupid amount of $$ to rebuild them (they're siamesed together) and sourcing the rubber boots was a biotch. I'm assuming that it is easier to source parts for a HD CV carb, but I've always been a fan of a butterfly valve. Yes there is still rubber inside the carb, but if you have a big enough backfire through a CV, you're dead. It'll blow the boot. I'm rebuilding my rig and happened across a S&S Super E shorty for a good price so I switched.

The HD CV is light years ahead of the old butterfly carb, and they are certainly not Kawaski units.

Sent my carb off my '98 Dyna off to Dale at Killer Carbs about a week ago, should have it back in another week. Can't wait, heard nothing but good thing's about his service. Doing a cam, carb, ignition, and suspension upgrade on my '98 FXDS- CONV. Evo's rule!
