Changing out stock can to ev27. Old cam came out with the cover. Now I cannot line up timing marks before removal. Top end and lifters are off so no problem turning the beast over. Pinion gear looks to turn twice to the cams once. Need some help here please. Don't want to line them up on wrong rotation.

Believe it or not you can't line the marks up wrong.
If you match up the marks on all 3 gears you will be fine.
If you had a FSM I don't think you would be asking this question....
Gots an FSM and a Clymers to boot. Read them both. That does not stop the little gremlins in my head from overthinking things. That is what the internet if for son.
Thanks for the answer Tex.

Tex is right about this. There's only one way the marks on all three gears will line up. That said, I've been known to take a picture of the timing marks aligned, just before buttoning up the motor. It helps ease my mind, having proof that I did it right. sort of like wondering if I turned off the stove before leaving the house.

Not your son and it's all in the FSM... Stop overthinking.........

Tex nailed it as said.
One thing I'll mention. Stick with the FSM for info. Some info can be troublesome to find in it BUT it's all there.
Have seen folks get confused switching back and forth between FSM and aftermarket manuals. Terminology, wiring and pictures come to mind first.
I can overthink on new stuff all to well myself.
