Default ANOTHER ignition thread

I cane search all day long and find which models are recommended more than others. Single fire vs dual fire etc...However, my tech told me he doesn’t like to change ignitions on evos. He said that the system is good enough and is a waste of money for the gains received. What are your opinions? Here are my current mods

1997 Fxd with 15k mi
Arlen Ness Big Sucker
Jetted stock carb
V&H Big Radius exhaust
Andrews ev27 cam
Adjustable Push rods
port and polish by Big Boyz Porting
Heads milled down to give 9.5 To 1 compression

Im not a drag racer but like to romp on it from time to time at stop signs. Also love passing power. Will my bike benefit much or would money spent elsewhere be better?

I would go with a Dyna 2000 http://www.dynaonline.com/products/h...dyna-2000.aspx You don't need a single fire ignition on your bike.

This will allow you a lot of options. I like having the rev limit set a bit higher, because the EV27 cam will really start making HP above 5000 rpm. Mine is set at ~6200. I don't ride it that high, but it makes for some real fun taking off. IMHO, the Dyna 2000 will make your EVO (as built) really shine.

FWIW, I'm running a lightly modified 80" EVO in my 1993 FLHS. Street ported heads, ever so slight compression bump (probably a bit under 9:1), tuned CV carb, EV27 cam, Ness Big Sucker Stage 1, Thunderheader, and Dyna 2000 ignition. I also use iridium spark plugs. This setup does everything I want. Is great running two up with luggage. I can hold hills, pass semi's and RV's with a slight twist of the throttle.

Spartan the Dynatek will help your bike start easier.
That's about the only difference I noticed with mine but it was a big difference IMO.

I have a Dynatek 2000P 7 pin module I just pulled off my Heritage.
If you get a 7 to 8 pin connector it will work on your bike.

PM me if you're interested.

The Dyna 2ki is a very reliable ignition with curves that ramp faster than stock and you really don't need the single fire setup. Just get the module and continue to run your oem dual fire.. Set the rev limiter to 6200 and chose curve 2. The way I understood oem ignition is that curve 3 on the Dyna is the same as stock. Just get the module. It's all you really need.. Another nice thing about is that it's is so easy to set base timing. No more timing light and messy oil that doesn't allow you to see the mark all that well through the plastic lens anyways...

You click on someones name and a drop down menu appears.
Then you click on send (whoever) a private message.
Not sure if there is a minimum post count required or not.
I'll send you a PM with my number.

If you're not logged into the forum with your username and password, when you click on a user's name, only two options appear in the drop down list.

If you are logged in, then more options appear in the drop down list when you click on someone's username, including the one that says "Send a private message to...."

Yes. Gave you a call and sent you a PM. Thank you. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I’m at my parents in TN remodeling their master bathroom. Working long hours bc time is limited before I have to head back home.
